A LABORATORY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF IDEAS

The campus has state-of-the-art digital labs supporting sound, photography, film, video, design, web programming, and print.  SFAI is a place of hidden histories, tucked into corners of the campus and literally carved into the walls. The past and present of making, living, and breathing art coexist here with 100,000 square feet of studios and classrooms.

DIGITAL IMAGING STUDIO

The DIS provides access to large-format Epson inkjet printers capable of printing up to 44 inches wide. In the DIS, students can make fine art inkjet prints on standard and alternative ink et media, such as cloth, thin Plexiglas, and sheet metal. You can check the prices for printing below and ask for an estimated rate by email.

The Digital Darkroom is the primary still imagery scanning facility at SFAI. Located on the Chestnut Street campus next to the Digital Imaging Studio, the DDR provides students with access to variably sized flatbed reflective/transparency scanners, dedicated film scanners, and color-calibrated LCD monitors. This facility enables the creation of large archival scans from reflective media, oversized media, and film of multiple formats and stocks, providing users an easy transition between analog and digital workflows.
